Around 1981 Judy got a taste of letterpress printing when she collaborated with Bill Jackson of 4 Ducks Press in Wichita to publish their collaboration Indulgences. which received the Gold Award from the New York Art Directors Club. She then purchased a platen press in Denver where she promptly smashed off the end of one finger! In spite of that she continued producing letterpress books until 1989 when she sold the press to a graduate student and moved to Seattle to teach at the University of Washington. She then transitioned to digital technology creating one-of-a-kind artist books.
